Brittany Koziara is a fitness model and brand ambassador. She’s also a former Florida Gators Track & Field athlete and is currently studying to become both a fitness trainer and police officer.
Britt is a very fun client to work with both for the level of her fitness and the excellence she demands from each shoot. Back in April 2016, we found out about Britt through her social media. She recently made a switch to becoming a fitness trainer and brand ambassador. She was working really hard in the gym and we reached out to collaborate on a shoot.
Our first shoot took place back in May 2016 outside near Downtown Gainesville, FL. We then proceeded to shoot two more times: once in our studio and then most recently in Jacksonville Beach, FL. Each of the three shoots had different looks and goals to help build Britt’s brand. We have one more shoot to schedule to round out the looks and we’re looking forward to getting another one in.
A big thanks to Paul C. Buff’s AlienBees strobe lights and Vagabond battery system. This is a perfect kit for both the studio and on-location. Paired with a durable tripod and the Vagabond lithium battery system, we can bring clean, quality light almost anywhere.
Scroll down to see our favorite photos from Britt’s fitness photo sessions and even see some of our behind-the-scenes (BTS) photos from the shoots (something we have just started to do on our shoots) thanks to our good friend, Justin P. Tompkins of Conifer.

Our first shoot with Britt started out at the Depot Avenue Trail Pedestrian Bridge DNA Bridge that crosses US441 in Gainesville, FL. This is a great, industrial-looking structure that gave us a great backdrop. For this shoot, Britt wanted to include some of the brands she was hoping to sign with.
We then moved east of the bridge towards Downtown Gainesville. We found a few street locations that were still under construction which gave us the perfect combination of little traffic and an urban backdrop.
We finished up the shoot at Depot Park’s Train Stop.
Our second shoot took place 6 days later an the Matt Pendleton Photography studio. We chose a black background to have her stand out more and with the help of Paul C. Buff’s AlienBees lighting strobe system and beauty dish, we played a little with light.
For this shoot, Britt hired Ciarra Brewer. one of her Florida Gator track teammates who is a phenomenally talented make-up artist (MUA). This really elevated the look. We definitely recommend having a MUA on-set.
Our most recent shoot took place in Jacksonville Beach, FL. This shoot was well planned from locations to lighting and we worked hard to get all the shots we needed in the short amount of time we had to shoot. Sunrise shoots happen quick because you really only get a max of 30 minutes of the best part of sunrise.
We had to dodge a full sunrise photographers and a few couples enjoying the sunrise. This first set of photos takes place at the Jacksonville Beach Pier. It’s a superb spot with tons of shot angles. We got two looks in at this spot (sport and bikini) thanks to a super quick on-location outfit change.
After a great sunrise shoot, we quickly changed outfits and moved to the underpass near Beach Blvd just down the street from Jacksonville Beach Pier. We have some specific skater/lifestyle looks for this part of the shoot. Thanks to help of our BTS photographer, Justin, we were able to also take a few light motivated shots.
Our next stop on Shoot Three was another bridge: the Main Street Bridge in Downtown Jacksonville. The skyline and blue bridge in the back were a perfect backdrop. For this stop, we tried to use as much natural light as possible using a bounce board for some lighting.
Our final location of Shoot Three was a hidden gem in Downtown Jacksonville; the Myrtle Avenue Subway Tunnel. It sits beneath the I-95 overpass and is fairly hidden from most traffic. The industrial look and caution painting were another great backdrop to pair with Britt.
Here are a few behind-the-scenes shots from Shoot Two with Britt. You can see the super talented Ciarra Brewer helping keep Britt all glammed up for the shoot in our studio.
These BTS shots were taken by Justin P. Tompkins of Conifer. We contracted with him to help get different shots during our Shoot Three in Jacksonville Beach, FL. These are some really amazing snaps.
Here are the second location BTS shots from Shoot Three shot by Justin P. Tompkins of Conifer.
Here are the third location BTS shots from Shoot Three shot by Justin P. Tompkins of Conifer. Really love the shot of our AlienBees lighting kit sitting all by itself. We really tried to not use any strobe lighting and only used a bounce board for this location.
Here are the final location BTS shots from Shoot Three shot by Justin P. Tompkins of Conifer. As you can see, the subway tunnel was a perfect backdrop to end our shoot. The final shot shows that in between shots there’s a little workout going on to keep the muscles looking great.
