Meet Nicole

Nicole Caruso is a certified personal trainer and doctoral student at Duke University studying Physical Therapy. She recently graduated from the University of Florida and just move to Durham, NC to start classes. Right before she left, I was fortunate to work with her for a fitness photo shoot.

I chose to shoot downtown at the the Downtown Gainesville Parking Garage. There are so many different spots to use and each gives a unique look. Nicole packed a ton of great outfits from Nike to Lululemon.

The Gear

For this shoot, I wanted portable power to help create depth to my images. Here's what I used for the session:

Cameras: Canon 1D-X Mark II
Lenses: Canon 24-70mm f2.8L III. Canon 85mm f1.4L IS
Gear: Lexar 32GB Memory Cards/Readers, Tiffen UV filters, Hoodman eyecups
Grip and Support: Peak Design Slide Lite camera straps, Avenger C-Stands
Lighting: Profoto B1X, Profoto 3ft RFi Octa Softbox

Outfit #1

The session started in the morning and I used one of the corners of the garage's top floor. Nicole started by wearing a Nike outfit: Grey Nike Pro sports bra, blue Nike Pro shorts, and Nike running sneakers.

Outfit #2

We made a slight move from the shadow into direct sunlight .I brought out the Profoto B1X with the 3-foot Octabox to help add more depth.

Outfit #3

Nicole is wearing a pink Nike Pro sports bra, grey Nike Pro shorts, and dark purple Nike running shoes.

I shot in a mix of shadow and direct sunlight for this outfit.

Outfit #4

Nicole pulled out an all-pink Nike outfit: pink Nike Pro sports bra, Nike headband, Nike Tempo running shorts, and Nike running sneakers.

Outfit #5

I moved to the 4th floor of the garage. This has some of the best light especially at the time of day we were shooting. I shot all of these photos with natural available light.

Nicole started out in this location wearing lululemon Align leggings and the Flow Y Bra Nulu in camo paired with Adidas running shoes.

Outfit #6

Nicole stayed in the lululemon Align leggings but changed into the lululemon Free To Be Wild sports bra and dark pink Nike running shoes.

I continued shooting with natural light. You would be surprised to know these were mostly shot in a stairwell and a parking space. Just great light!

Outfit #7

The final outfit of the shoot included a pink Nike Pro sports bra, lululemon Align leggings, and dark pink Nike running shoes.

Nicole did a phenomenal job on her first fitness shoot and she had a ton of fun. We knocked out 7 outfits with ease and had incredible results. Nicole has a bright future of model ahead. I am truly thankful for her time and talent.
