Another exciting, full season of women's college lacrosse

Lacrosse is one of my favorite sports. I'm fortunate to have one of the premier college teams right in town, attracting equally premier competition. This season I was able to shoot for Florida Gators Athletics and The Gainesville Sun. Big shout-out to Katie Callahan for being one the best SIDs in the game.

Four NCAA Tournament caliber teams came to Gainesville this season: NCAA Champion UNC, Syracuse with legendary coach Kayla Treanor, Jacksonville, and Mercer.

Florida vs Kennesaw State

Florida kicked off the 2022 regular season with their home opener against the Owls. Florida won 22-7.

Gator freshman Emma LoPinto scored eight points on six goals and two assists in her collegiate debut. The most goals by a Gator player in a season opener in team history.

Draws from the Season

#2 UNC Comes to Gainesville

UNC, which eventually became the 2022 National Champion, battled tough with the Gators but ultimately won 15-11.

Florida vs #3 Syracuse

Kayla Treanor and her #3 Orange came to town. This was a really fun game to cover with a bunch of top-tier athletes battling against each other. Add in some beautiful sunset light and it was beautiful.

Florida vs Stetson

The game of lacrosse is growing fast in Florida and it's great to see more Florida-based NCAA team getting better and better.

The rain was non-stop and I'm so thankful for my ThinkTank camera rain gear and Columbia rain outerwear.

Florida vs Old Dominion

The Gators enter this game on a six-game winning streak. At the end, the continue notch another win and extend the winning streak to seven.

Florida vs Jacksonville - Round 1

The #22 Dolphins play the Gators annually and have been getting better and better each season. This game would be the first of two games where the Dolphins and Gators face off. The Gators won 12-6.

NCAA Tournament - First Round - Mercer

The Gators kicked off the NCAA Tournament hosting in Gainesville, Florida playing against the Mercer Bears. This was a tight game until the end. The Gators won 19-12.

NCAA Tournament - Second Round - Jacksonville

Round two of the NCAA Tournament and round two for the matchup between the Dolphins and Gators. This was a battle to the end. The Gators get the win 15-10.

This was my favorite photo from the season. Emma LoPinto flies in for an open net score. The net was open due to a play tactic.

The Gators get the win 15-10 and move on in the NCAA Tournament. They next faced #2 Maryland ultimately losing 5-18 ending the Gators incredible season.
