Season in Review

We cover the Florida Gators Volleyball team for a variety of media outlets. While we didn't get to shoot every match, we did cover some of the biggest match-ups of the 2017 season. Our journey with the Florida Gators concluded with the 2017 NCAA Volleyball Championship Regional Final (Elite 8). As we publish this photo story, the Gators are headed to Kansas City to battle the Stanford Cardinal in the Final Four.

Season in Review: Florida Gators Volleyball

#1 Texas - 8/25/2017

The first game of the season was against #1 ranked University of Texas in front of the second largest crowd the Gators have hosted (7,523). To say this game was huge was an understatement and the Gators' upset victory (3-1) set the tone for the rest of the season.

#5 Nebraska - 8/26/2017

Less than 24 hours from their upset victory over #1 Texas, the Gators outlasted #5 Nebraska (3-2) in a 5-set thriller. This marked the first time the Gators won consecutive matches against Top 5 opponents.

#19 Florida State - 9/19/2017

The Florida Gators used the annual match-up with Florida State University to debut the new Exactech Arena court projection system. In addition to their 3-0 sweep, the Gators had a career performance from freshman Paige Hammons.

#8 Kentucky - 10/15/2017

Entering this match, the Gators had won 14 straight including 6 straight SEC contests. The Kentucky Wildcats were quickly becoming a powerhouse in the SEC and ending up making it to the Elite 8 in the 2017 NCAA Volleyball Championship. The Gators ended up losing this match-up 3-1 but would find success when they visited Lexington, KY.

Alabama State - 11/30/2017 - NCAA Tournament 1st RD

The Gators opened up the 2017 NCAA Volleyball Championship with a quick 3-0 win over Alabama State in the first round.

MIami - 12/1/2017 - NCAA Tournament 2nd RD

In the second round of the 2017 NCAA Volleyball Championship, the Gators faced the Miami Hurricanes and survived a fierce match-up. In the end, the Gators won 3-1 and moved on to host the NCAA Volleyball Championship Regional.

UCLA - 12/8/2017 - NCAA Tournament Sweet 16

#14 USC - 12/9/2017 - NCAA TOURNAMENT ELITE 8

The Gators capped an epic post-season run in Gainesville with one of most exciting matches to date. The Gators took the 5-set thriller and advanced to the NCAA Volleyball Championship Final Four for the first time since 2003.

While we covered this match-up for the University of Southern California, we were able to get a few reaction shots post-match.

Good luck to the Gators at the Final Four in Kansas City.
