We love covering volleyball as it's a fast-paced and difficult sport to shoot. We're fortunate to have two premier college teams right in our own backyard and they attract equally premier competition. This season we covered the Florida Gators (NCAA D1) and Santa Fe Saints (NJCAA D1) both local to Gainesville.
As you see our favorite images from the season, you'll get an up-close view of how hard these teams work to compete.
Here's the gear we use to cover college volleyball:
The Florida Gators opened the home season against the eventual National Champion, the Stanford Cardinal, who were ranked #1 at the time of this match. Ultimately, the Gators lost 0-3.
In their 8th match, Florida faced a familiar foe in the Florida State Seminoles. Every year this matchup proves to be a 5-setter but this year, the Gators won 3-0.
The Gators were coming into this match very hot on a 7-match win streak and a 9-2 record. They would end up defeating Auburn 3-0 and Georgia the next match 3-0 before losing to #15 Kentucky.
We're excited to debut our first shoot wit the Santa Fe Saints, the top community college in the nation and also local to Gainesville, Florida. Our good friend, Matt Stamey, let us get access to shoot for the Saints in their annual Pink Match.
The Saints defeated the Titans 3-0 in their last game before Sophomore Night (the equivalent of Senior Night at the university/4-year college level).
We were fortunate to cover the Gators one more time over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. The Gators defeated Arkansas 3-0 and went to 24-4.
The Gators finished the year 27-5 making the NCAA Tournament, winning the first and second rounds, and ultimately losing to #7 Minnesota in the Regional Semi-Final in Austin, TX.
Another college volleyball season in the books. We had a great time covering both the Florida Gators and Santa Fe Saints. We're looking forward to next season's action and any new teams who want to work with us.
